This is just a Ford Explorer Sport or Chevy Avalanche with an H on the grille. Where’s the rest of the bed?

Still unibody, still transverse engine, part time AWD. It's not a truck really but it does a convincing job.

yeah, explorer sport trac is pretty close. Im not mad, and I think its a great type of new utility vehicle but a “truck”? maybe not.

“proper” truck is body on frame, RWD base

It’s still a Pilot with a bed, they just styled the bed to look like a separate piece like on a body-on-frame pickup.

Considering how much the current breed of trucks is actually used for truck-like duties, this vehicle will be more than enough to meet the needs of a good number of pickup buyers. They’ll just need to macho it up a bit with a lift kit and lots of plastic cladding and a few other things to wreck the aerodynamics and drivability to make it look like a ‘real’ truck.

I always liked the Ridgeline, I think if Honda advertised it better more people would buy it.

I dont think its marketing. I think its because they have no heritage to compete with. Think about it; Ford has The F-series heritage, GM has the heritage of the silverado and Toyota has the reliability aspect. Honda has no 4x4 or off roading heritage once so ever. There really isnt an argument for anyone to buy a ridgeline over literally anything else.

This is for people who can’t swallow their pride and drive a minivan. A Minivan will get better mileage and have better carrying capacity. I used my minivan for camping, carrying small motorcycles, drywall, etc...

The Honda will continue to be a shitty seller, the domestic competition includes trucks with 100 to 150 more horsepower with the same or better mileage, trucks that include better capacity at the same price.
